The Interstate That Isn't...

The newest addition to the interstate system doesn't bare the name, "Interstate," but has a new designation instead.  It looks like the other interstates and it's treated like other interstates, so why the name difference?

Liberty 41 is the newest spur-like highway off of Interstate 5, but instead of naming this road I-105 or I-205, the federal highway department, LibDOT said they had to create a new name because the highway did not fit any of the definitions of an interstate road.  The new designation is just a different way of naming the highway, without having to amend the bylaws governing the interstate.  "It was easier for us to create the new designation, than to try to have the definition appended or changed," says LibDOT Parliamentarian, John Lisby.

L-41 will start at Interstate 5 in Crater Harbor, run through the state capitol of Naiads, which has not been built, and end at Interstate 6 in Fairfax Square, Messor.
