Google Earth Flight Simulator

Well, a few weeks ago I finally downloaded Google Earth 5.0, after putting it low on the priority list for months. 5.0 has many great features, including bathymetry (ocean depth), historical imagery, variable brightness of the landscape, and a flight simulator. The flight simulator is what I have tried out most often since I have obtained 5.0.

It is a great way to get a new dimension on the program, as was revealed to me while flying around San Francisco. If you have Google Earth, and wish to go into the flight simulator, go to the tools menu, and click "enter flight simulator". Once you click that, you will be given a choice of two aircraft: a prop-driven SR22, or a F16 fighter jet (I prefer the F16 myself). You can start from a selection of airports, or the current view.

My current record for speed in the simulator is in an F16 at 200 feet above the ground, at 1180 knots, and my altitude record is 86000 feet, also in an F16, although this was achieved in a stall using the "current view" starting point.

If you want a flight simulator, but don't want to fork over tens of dollars for one, this is the program to get. Just thought I'd share my experiences.
