Franklinite Assemblymen Wary of American Operations
Today, after the announcement by United States President Jonathan Wright, some represenatives in the Assembly were worried about American involvement in the Franklinite-Soltrian War, and expressed concern about future operations.
In a rather lively debate during today's session, the Executive attempted to bring order to the chamber multiple times, but some kept debating.
"I am worried", Tom Seneca said, "I am worried that we will become the next Afghanistan. First they send military support, then advisors, then ground troops. The American government has a long history of doing things like that that started with things like are happening to us."
Another Assemblymen exclaimed, "They will take over this entire island and our economy! Refuse their presence in our war."
William Harris quickly responded by saying, "Other allied nations are already involved. The United States has already limited their involvement."
The same one stated, "Those nations are fellow AFDES states. We can trust them to adhere to our sovereignty. How can we trust the Americans!?"
Assemblyman Mark Lupin rebutted by saying, "I welcome American involvement on the naval front. They have a strong military that can hasten Soltrian defeat. I thought that is what we were aiming for here."
After more than 90 minutes of argument, Executive Patricius Maximus finally brought order to the Assembly by saying, "I believe... I believe that our objective in the war is not to defeat the Soltrians but rather to force a peace treaty. I also believe that we should keep watch on the Americans. We have many allies, and we can count on their help if we are invaded. We also have a strong defense position by ourselves. Therefore, I think the risk of defeat is minimal. It is already 18:00, and I leave the chair to the gentleman from North Franklin."
Soon thereafter, debate moved to other issues, and at 20:00, the Assembly adjourned itself for the night.
